Background
Jan is a Junior Professor at the Institute of Information Systems at Humboldt-University Berlin. He has studied at University of Trier (Germany) and UFSIA Antwerpen (Belgium). He received a PhD degree (Dr. rer. soc. oec) from the Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration (Austria), a diploma degree in Business Computer Science (Dipl.-Wirt.-Inf.) and a diploma degree in Business Administration (Dipl.-Kfm.) both from the University of Trier in 2003. Before his graduation he joined Deutsche Bank AG, PricewaterhouseCoopers Luxembourg S.à r.l., Nederlands-Duitse Kamer van Koophandel, ICTeam GmbH, and OnVista AG for internships and part-time Jobs. From 1998 to 2002 he was board member and chair of Börsen-Initiative Trier 1995 e.V. - a student club dedicated to practical stock exchange eduction. In 2002 he received the Knowledge Master degree from Siemens AG and Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich. In October 2003 he joined the Institute of Information Systems and New Media of the Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration. In February, April, and December 2006 he joined the BPM group lead by Wil van der Aalst at TU Eindhoven as a visiting researcher to work on the ProM framework. In June 2007 he completed his doctoral thesis on Detection and Prediction of Errors in EPC Business Process Models. From July 2007 until July 2008 he worked as a postdoctoral research fellow at the BPM Group at Queensland University of Technology, Brisbane, Australia.
