What makes studying Business Administration at HU zu Berlin so special?
The Faculty of Business and Economics at the HU has developed a recognized academic profile. The strong research orientation is already noticeable in the Bachelor's program. The Bachelor of Business Administration has a strong quantitative and methodological orientation. Students receive a mathematical-analytical (theory) and statistical-econometric (empirical) education. In addition to acquiring methodological skills, great importance is attached to applying the methods learned to economic issues.
What interests/prerequisites should you have?
You should have a general interest in business management issues. These are, for example: How do companies use their resources sustainably? How can customer wishes be recognized and optimally served? How do companies plan their product range and set prices? How are employees motivated? What strategies do companies use to operate globally? You should also have an affinity for quantitative areas such as statistics and mathematics and be interested in answering economic questions through analytical thinking and with the help of mathematical models. Finally, good communication and teamwork skills as well as self-discipline are advantageous.

Overview of the programme
The bachelor's degree programme in Business Administration offers a comprehensive basic business education with a quantitative and methodological focus. What's more, in the higher semester, there is the possibility to specialisewith the catalogue of specialised electives. The study is supplemented by the catalogue of interdisciplinary electives, which offers the opportunity to study modules at other faculties of the HU, to deepen or re-acquire language skills, to attend preparatory vocational cources at the Career Center or to complete an internship. The programme is completed upon submission of the bachelor's thesis.

Catalogue of specialised electives (54 CP):
At least 24 LP are to be earned from the following elective modules in Business Administration. The following disciplines are currently available:

Furthermore, specialist modules with a workload of 30 CP offered by the School of Business and Economics are to be incorporated into catalogue of specialised electives (Economics, Business Administration, Quantitative Methods). This catalogue is very well suited for the recognition of modules with a focus on the economic science content (e.g. from a semester abroad).
Please note: If more than 24 CP are gained from the elective modules in Business Administration, the catalogue of elective modules in area C shall be reduced accordingly.
Catalogue of interdisciplinary electives (ÜWP, 25 CP - ungraded):
the catalogue of interdisciplinary electives has a workload of 25 credit points. It is mandatory and cannot be replaced by selecting further modules offered by the Faculty. Achievements are recognised without grades. If applicable, grades awarded for cources from the ÜWP are not taken into account in the calculation of the final grade. The following achievements in this catalogue can be recognised:
- Interdisciplinary electives from other faculties of Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin (except for the module Basic Knowledge of Civil and Commercial/Corporate Law of the Faculty of Law of the HU zu Berlin)
- Language courses at the Language Centre (excluding language courses in the mother tongue or official language of the respective home country, all German courses for foreigners under C1 level GER)
- Career Center cources (excluding introductory courses in economics and law)
- Interdisciplinary and specialised courses from other universities
- Interdisciplinary and specialised courses from abroad
- Economics-related internship (10 credits)
- Portfolio Management Program (PMP, 10 credits)

About the internship:
The internship must be related to the field of study, which must be stated in a cover letter (about 2 pages). In addition, an internship certificate, issued by the employer (job description, duration of the internship and weekly working hours) must be submitted to the Examination Office. The internship must last of at least 6 consecutive weeks (full time). The definition of "full time" may vary from company to company. In some companies "full time" is also 38 or 39 hours per week. A 12-week internship with half of the regular full-time hours will also be recognised. The internship must be completed during the period of study. Completed commercial apprenticeship is also recognised as an internship.
Employments contracts for jobs as student assistants in the universities or academic research institutes cannot be recognised as internships.
The recognition of the internship falls within the purview of the Examination Office of the School of Business and Economics.
About the bachelor's thesis:
In the bachelor's thesis, the students demonstrate their ability to independently work on a topic from their areaof expertise . The period allotted for writing the bachelor's thesis is 60 calendar days. The work should usually amount to 60,000 characters without spaces (about 25 to 30 pages without appendix).
The registration documents for the bachelor's thesis are available at the Examination Office. Students are admitted to the bachelor's thesis if all compulsory modules are passed, and the requirements set by the examiner are met.
Procedure: You collect the registration documents from the Examination Office. The topic to be covered as well as the date the topic was assigned by the examiner must be included on the registration form, which in turn must be signed. This registration form must then be submitted immediately to the Examination Office. You will then receive written confirmation of the registration as well as information about all related deadlines.
