Prof. Greven was elected to the ERS-IASC Board of Directors for 2024-2028

Sonja Greven was elected to the Board of Directors of the European Regional Section of the International Association for Statistical Computing (ERS-IASC) for the 2024-2028 term.

The tasks of a member of the Board of Directors (BoD) in the European Regional Section of the International Association for Statistical Computing (ERS-IASC) include promoting the objectives of the ERS and actively participating in the administration of its affairs. Members are involved in the election of the Scientific Secretary and Auditors and may serve on committees, working groups, or take on specific tasks as needed. They play a role in appointing necessary staff and managing expenditures for ERS activities.

Board members engage in organizing international or regional seminars, conferences, and meetings, particularly the COMPSTAT meetings, and in promoting research and training programs in computational statistics. They contribute to the publication of scientific periodicals, books, reports, and newsletters, and collaborate with other organizations having similar objectives.

Financially, members manage resources, including conference fees, donations, grants, and expenditures, and authorize grants or financial assistance for research or developmental projects. They participate in ordinary or special meetings, ensure quorum and proxy rules are maintained, and contribute to the decision-making process during these meetings. Members are also involved in formulating policy and making important decisions, ensuring the effective operation and advancement of the ERS.
