People often perceive spaces in a way that is
"distorted" when compared to "objective" reality. This holds for
physical spaces, for virtual 3D spaces, and for other virtual spaces
like information spaces. Using experimental studies and cognitive
models, we have investigated the involved strategies of mentally
organizing and processing information, and we have derived
recommendations for the design of virtual spaces and usage interfaces.
A topic of current research are the implications for usage interfaces
