Research at the School of Business and Economics
The research conducted at the School of Business and Economics covers the most diverse areas of these two fields, dealing with current topics such as the economic impact of German reunification and the benefits of new forms of financing like crowdfunding, as well as classic fundamental issues such as decision theory and monetary policy.
The School's research is primarily carried out in large collaborative projects, such as Collaborative Research Centres. In addition to making new contributions to economic knowledge, the School closely combines its research activities with the training of young scientists, for instance, in the Berlin School of Economics and in Research Training Groups.
A guiding principle of the School's research is the very close collaboration with its many partner institutions in Berlin, for example, in joint research seminars and the joint support of doctoral candidates and postdoctoral researchers with other Berlin-based research institutes. Collaborations with non-university institutes, such as the German Institute for Economic Research (DIW Berlin) and the Leibniz Institute for Economic Research (RWI), are further dovetailed through the establishment of special professorships ("Sonder-Professuren"). These collaborations allow the School to harness synergies, which it could not achieve independently. The School's active involvement in networks such as the Berlin School of Economics and Leibniz Campus BCCP further enhance these collaborations.
